| How
do we arrange for our guests to gain access to the ship after the Heritage
area is closed? This will be organised by our staff and we request that a full alphabetical list of guests is forwarded to the ship as early as possible and no later than three working days before the event. This is required by the MOD Security Guard due to the increased security requirement within the Naval Base. A limited number of cars will be allowed to enter the Naval Base via Victory Gate and special arrangements may be made for elderly and disabled guests. Advice on parking nearby is readily available on request and a discount on the normal rates can often be obtained depending on the number of cars requiring parking. |
Do
you have your own catering? Our caterers are County Caterers who offer a flexible choice of fare and have a wide experience of catering in prestigious venues. Only County Caterers are authorised to cater on board and we suggest you contact them for menu ideas(details available from the Special Events Manager). You may arrange to meet them on board should you wish to discuss the catering on site. How does a wedding reception differ from a normal evening function on board? Basically very little although the ship is sensitive to the occasion and we will do whatever we can to make the occasion special for the Bride and Groom. When you visit the ship you will be advised where to set up your receiving line (both in fair weather and foul), how best to arrange your seating, the procedure for wedding speeches and display of the cake, etc. The Quartermasters will supervise the collection of any wedding presents as they arrive, although it is stressed the ship can take no responsibility for these and they should all be removed at the end of the evening. Extra flowers may be arranged through the ship's florist, or an alternative florist if you prefer, at your expense. As with any evening function held on board, the ship will be open for your guests to tour during the first part of the evening when guides will be on hand to answer questions. |
