I want to volunteer, but what if I don’t see anything that interests me?
All current volunteer opportunities are listed. If there is nothing of interest to you at the moment, then keep checking back. Alternatively, complete and submit our volunteer enquiry form and we will contact you when new opportunities arise.
What is the minimum amount of time I have to volunteer for?
We will try to make our volunteer opportunities as flexible as possible to encourage a broad range of people to get involved. Most of the time, we can discuss volunteer days/hours with the successful volunteer.
A minimum of four hours attendance would normally be required. Ideally the Trust is looking for a Volunteer who can offer at least two to three days per month (including some weekends).unless otherwise agreed. Please be aware that there may be occasions where we specify set days and times for volunteers as the ship requires.
Are there any age limits for volunteering?
Occasionally, there may be a minimum age requirement for particular tasks; however, generally speaking, volunteers must be over the age of 16. We don’t have an upper age limit providing you are able to carry out the task effectively, and without risk to other people’s health and safety.
Will I receive any training?
All volunteers will receive an induction into HMS Warrior 1860 and The Warrior Preservation Trust together with appropriate training to help them carry out their role effectively and with confidence. Any additional training will be discussed with the successful volunteer.
Will I have to undergo a CRB Check?
This depends on your volunteer role. If you will come in to contact with children or vulnerable adults, you will need to undergo a CRB check. This will be at no cost to the volunteer, and can be discussed in more detail in confidence.
Am I insured?
All volunteers are covered by The Warrior Preservation Trust insurance policy whilst they are on board HMS Warrior 1860 or engaged in any work on behalf of The Warrior Preservation Trust.
Health and Safety
Volunteers are covered by The Warrior Preservation Trust Health and Safety Policy, a copy of which is in the Volunteers Handbook.
